Earlier the same day we found a trail out in the middle of nowhere leading to the middle of nowhere, perfectly captured by this candid shot of the intrepid explorer. We were constantly besieged by small black flies, which you would wave your hand back and forth in front of your face to dispell, a gesture commonly called the "Australian Salute."
